At yonder village

At yonder village, mother dear,
Up by the church just past there,
My poor heart has been broken by
A widow's lovely daughter.
Please, mother, go and seek her out.
Look in the upper district.
And tell her if she turns me down,
This life I'll want to exit.
You'll recognise her, mother dear,
Among all the young women,
From eyebrows that are thickly set,
Eyes large enough to swim in.
And there to see on her right cheek
That glows a rosy crimson,
She has a mole as black as night
That breaks your heart and then some.
