My eyes blink open, morning came too fast
Snooze the alarm clock, pray that sleep comes past
The king enters, demanding that I wake
He wouldn't understand my reasoning
that today is too much for me to take
I say my reply, a smooth Princess lie,
and with defeat, our brave king retreats, for
even he can see the dulling of eyes
shifting, I move, test the motion of air
The sirens begin to blare, now aware
today has begun without my consent
A swift move and silence I commend, an
awful ache attacking my head; hands move,
pressing my head; Today, I pretend.
