Castles in the sand

We build our castles in the sand,
a monument of seperate grains.
Each one a record of our lives,
our dreams and hopes, our fears and pains.
We build in haste to beat the tides,
but carefully, we build it high.
Unmindful of fragility
we build a tower from which to fly.
And when it crumbles, as it must
the memory of strength still stands.
Though scattered by the winds of change,
our dreams drift on, like shifting sands.
