A Red Moon

There's a red moon in the sky tonight
So sleep, little baby sleep
'cos somebody's gonna bleed tonight
and somewhere a mother will weep.
The dogs bark on the street tonight
and a child cries out in fear
in a house that's dark and empty
with no-one there to hear
And somewhere in a doorway
a young girl sleeps on the floor
At least on the street, she needn't fear
the tap on the bedroom door
So close your eyes, little angel
I'll sing you a lullabye,
as shadows creep down down deserted streets
There's a red moon in the sky
