In the calm, clear light of day
our night-time terrors hide away.
The things that haunt us in the night
disperse like mist, in bright sunlight.
The monsters that once filled our dreams-
-and made the night alive with screams-
-just vanish with reality
of how we know our world to be.
A place where logic rules the mind
and leaves the shades of night behind.
But chilhood horrors still hold sway,
we try to keep the dark at bay,
we light our candles, say our prayers,
and look behind us on the stairs.
For when the full moon casts its light.
The savage beast still rules the night.
