The tabloid TV cable voice over retrospective piece droned on: It was
1977 and, Las Vegas, with all its allure, and energy-intensive shows,
night after night, had taken its toll: Elvis Presley, that once
tireless dynamo of 'white-meets-black' musicality was tuckered out,
having given his all too many times over; the harbinger of musical
crossovers yet to come, the rockabilly wizard who made the 'really,
really BIG shew' even bigger, that hermaphroditic hellion better
looking than any man OR woman&;#8230;..the word went out, far and
wide,and, as a result: Elvis has NOT left the
building&;#8230;&;#8230;..but would be spending the night,
perhaps permanently, in his overly-appointed penthouse suite in the
sky, replete with endless portions of 'sweet potata
pie'&;#8230;&;#8230;Thank you, thank you, very
much&;#8230;&;#8230;&;#8230;..Postscript: This just in to the
'too good for the too-long material adventure desk': according to the
Cosmic Enquirer, Elvis Presley, still recuperating from his
universally-acclaimed stint in a place called 'Earth', will soon be
transferred to the Home for the Cosmically Misunderstood &; Abused,
located in downtown Camelot, where he will regularly hang out with the
likes of Don Quixote, John Kennedy and assorted
