Instinks by J.B. Pravda
Janson Torqueweldon knew a 'fight/flight' conundrum when he sensed
one&;#8230;..all his training, his very being as a modern man,
educated yet sensitive to the nuances that years of testing and
preparation had permanently lent to his sensibilities: the windows and
the screen door were definitely open, reported his dutiful sensory
portals, instantly and simultaneously; standing there, warrior, he, an
unfamiliar waft of breeze against his tested cheek, the very air filled
with anticipation, he had lived to encounter this test of his
'everythingness', his anti-angst: "Do yuh want starch or no on these
here shirts, Mr. Janson?" Her plaintive question snapped his thusly
sharpened reflexes into proper perspective; he now
remembered&;#8230;&;#8230;.the maid was there early on
Tuesdays.
