Bathos
A poem by J.B. Pravda
Of insouciance a faint reminder
In the disparate avenues of dusk and thunder
Electron's reign now rapes the hidden silence
With mounting waves of dominance.
Now the Dervish swirl, it ends
Usurped by jesters' languid shriekings
Mercury in His conquest unceasing rends
That tender fabric
Through the eons worn by Cosmos;
And from this bargain by humans made
Enshrouded numbers do parade
In sterile garment styled for this, their walking grave
Where hollow is their sad refrain, 'See how glorious!' alas, they
rave.
