straight as a rule,
they lined,
one behind the other,
sister behind brother,
they couldn't see the peril awaiting them,
the painful death opposing them,
children's eyes red from tears,
having watched the death of their peers,
but still,
they could not see the peril awaiting them,
the painful death opposing them,
a mother's comfort is a minor hope,
but still their young would mope,
"it's just a shower" the mother would say,
"don't worry sis" a brother would say,
then an agonising cry pierced the silence,
and still there was no end to this violence,
"its just a shower" a mother would say,
"don't worry sis" a brother would say,
then in the toxic mist a figure formed,
this harbringer of death,
but a man not scorned,
by a child's last dying breath,
today is the day to remember,
all the hurt and pain,
and make sure in the future,
we never see this again.
