Dark night surrounds the skin of my car
Warning of terrors unseen,
Nightmares close by
Screams unheard
As I
Drive by.

Rain attacks and mimics rapturous applause.
Lights of red and gold tempt
Travellers' eyes to
Crave closure
As I
Drive by.

Dark night invades unlit spaces inside my car
Changing dimensions, creating doubt.
Self belief suspended,
Signposts call
As I drive by.

Fog swiftly descends to trap the unwary
Tempting fearless car warriors
Into the unseen
Unforgiving swirl
As I drive by.

Watching people watching me, the journey continues.
Compelled I glance behind.
Car Warrior follows,
Bumper baiting
As I drive on.

Warrior seeks a willing player far ahead.
Passing towns declare themselves
Their life stories
Continually performed
As I drive by.

Flashing blue lights announce their coming.
Sirens scream their urgent lament.
The warrior and player
Now both victims.
Game over
As I drive by.
