Get It Faster - July 25 2002

06.40 am. I am listening to In The City again. The world is just
waking up and I only have one alarm as my wife has taken the other one,
so that she can wake up on time when she is Dublin tomorrow. I fed the
cats. Every morning there is a bundle between them for who gets to the
kitchen first, with Tabby making sure that the Longhair knows who is
boss.

Yesterday I went to work and bought a can of Sprite to drink on the
train, and then messaged ... around Upminster which is after Laindon
but the Sprite took a long time to drink. I went in to work and spent
all morning testing out bugs in the app I am working on. At lunchtime
... didnt have their phone on , so I messaged them, and then walked the
streets to Dixons and while I was walking along I imagine ... with me.
Well, I wanted toop, it may sound mad but that's just me. Passing
Finsbury Square there is a brass band playing, and for a moment I felt
that I was in a film. I went in Dixons to look at Walkmans and when I
was in there ... messaged me back to let me know they hadnt forgotten
and they would talk to me tomorrow. I took this is as a good sign and
bought the Walkman and a Discman too.

I got my panini (a Croque M'sieur) and latte in Starbucks. I ate these
in the office and had a quick look on the board to see what was
new.

Zoom, the afternoon flashes by. I am on the train going home from work,
and I am listening to the 100 Club JAm CD I have and it is great. I
dont usually listen to music on the train. When the train got to
Benfleet, the doors slamming seemed really loud. I was also thinking of
... as I like to.

My wife went to the gym in the evening and I went online for a bit, and
played my guitar. When she got back, I cooked tea, we had organic
salmon fillets in lime juice and black pepper, carrots, broccoli and
frozen peas. The peas I boiled and everything else was steamed. The
peas were glacially frozen with a thick ice crust, which is why I
cooked them for twenty minutes. Watched Big Brother. Kate and Jonny had
been very drunk and guffed up last night, then they had to do a variety
perfomance in the garden, where Alex played an accordion, Kate did
plate spinning, Jonny did magic and Jade was a ventriloquist. It was
very funny.

Then I wrote a long email to ... while listening to a favourite album
of ours. I had gone up the off license earlier to get cigarettes and
although I left my phone on there were no more messages, but thats
okay. I didnt chat with ... tonight as they were out with
friends.

Went to bed but there was a huge moth in the room, and my wife said it
was like a bat, and I spent ten minutes chasing the damn thing around
the room, trying to persuade it to fly out of the window. The cats also
tried to help. Eventually I caught it in the wire waste paper basket we
have and had the basket out the window about midnight, shouting fuck
off! really loudly at the moth as it wouldnt go, then it decided that
it would and I shut the window. My wife fell about laughing at that as
she imagined our next door neighbour lying in bed wondering what the
hell was going on, and I wondered what people might have thought had
they been passing at that time of night.

I can cook a demon salmon. The peas were nice too. I read about peas on
the forum this evening.

Sometimes I wish I could be in two places at the same time.
