Goose Gully

A few days ago, in my hometown, Ottawa, Ontario, I decided to bike
home from school along the Ottawa River (it takes longer but it was a
nice day (sun shining etc.)). While biking I came across a place a had
never been before; Goose Gully (as I now call it). There must have been
hundreds of geese lining the bike path, some as big as a toddler. The
neat part about it was that they weren't afraid of me (I ride a very
old, noisy bike so normally wildlife flees before I could see it). I
slowed down to stop and observe the geese from close proximity but then
thought to myself: " Are geese dangerous? A swan attacked Keddie [my
brother] once, are geese like swans?" Needless to say, I fled the
scene.
A few moments of pedaling passed before I came upon the first of 3
benches I will pass on my way. On the bench was an elderly
couple.
"Wow, they look happy," I thought, "I think I will stop at the next
bench, have a seat and enjoy the sights.
I did not stop at the next bench. As I thought more about it, I started
thinking that I don't deserve that spot on the bench. Firstly, I am too
young (16 years old), secondly I'm not relaxed enough and thirdly (most
importantly) it just wouldn't feel right. Somehow, I don't feel like I
have earned a spot on the river benches yet.
Someday though I will comeback and sit down and eat a snack on my way
to Goose Gully.
