When winter comes, I feed the birds,
Encourage them with kindly words,
Hang a feeder on the shed,
Throw out little bits of bread,
Buy them nuts and buy them seeds,
Cater for their smallest needs,
Hang out fat balls in a net,
Cover them when it gets wet,
Scare that Ginger Tom away,
So the birds might safely play,
Give to them a helping hand,
When winter's grip is on the land.
In summer, they acknowledge me
By shitting on my Ford Capri.
