INNOCENCE

You switch on the News - what do you see?

"tens of thousands of innocent lives have been put at
risk&;#8230;"

"&;#8230;thousands of innocent people have been
injured&;#8230;"

"&;#8230; hundreds of innocent lives have been lost."

But they're not that innocent. Who is so pure, so untainted, so
blameless - so innocent? I'm not. You are? Are the hundreds of innocent
lives actually that flawless? Have they never done anything wrong,
never said a wrong word, never lied, never backstabbed, never stolen
anything, never cheated? So they might not be murders but didn't they
hit their little sister when they were a kid, didn't they once lie
about where they were going? Have they never done anything bad? Have
you?

You don't have to be Hitler or Bin Laden to be bad. Everyone is a
little evil. I put my hand up. I've done some pretty bad stuff, yea
sure I've never killed anyone; I've not dedicated my life to
slaughtering an entire ethnic group, but I'm not perfect. Nobody's
perfect.

So switch on your telly, shake your head and tut, but what have you
ever done to stop any of the bad stuff? I'm not saying that serial
killers are okay, but there aren't "hundreds of innocent lives" - there
isn't one.

We're all evil on the inside.
