Leaving behind my World

Leaving isn't what it was,
Like it was last year,
Because last time,
I didn't shed a tear.
Now I've come to wondering,
Whether I will miss,
My friends, my life
Relaxation and bliss,
And it won't just be like this?
I'll miss silver gates that have never been oiled,
I won't see the new playground newly built,
I won't see the new kids good and shy,
The sun beating down and kids starting to fry.
I won't see the old oak tree,
Swing in the breeze,
Won't skate across the playground,
If there's a big freeze,
Phone numbers will be passed to me,
But nobody ever calls,
Won't hear from them,
Til later this fall,
I'm needing the field with the lush green grass,
I'm needing the assemblies which boring time pass,
I'm wanting my friends all here together,
I'm wanting a warm feeling in me,
Whatever the weather.
