Military Man

You're a Military Man but you have no gun
Do you think you'd be this way if 'we' hadn't won?
Years ago, you were a face among a million souls
Brought along as a backup at the already-achieved goals
Told to think - how to breed
How to live - told to believe
Adjustment back was never made
Is that why you still behave in this way?
Poor old brainwashed fool - xenophobic twit
Wanting National Service back, you're proud to be a Brit
Living in a history, lust for the old life
Life is lonely on your own, your hatred has a price
All your friends are changed or dead
The thoughts of war still run through your head
Frustrated by fighting which never took place
You still bear the pain of peaceful deaths on your face
Dying Military Man - fought for fifty years
Upper lip is weakening, weighed down with silent tears
Always thought this the way - never questioned 'why?'
If you really think something do you have to die?
Soon you'll be with all of those
Who died inside their khaki clothes
Your life's no more or less
You're proud to be another death
