Near Death Experience

I do not know what happened to me. All I remember is feeling very
heavy as I slumped into the darkness. Slowly, strangely I felt myself
getting lighter, so light that I was beginning to float. I found that I
could move, control what I was doing, where I was going.
I stood, for the want of a better word, a looked around me. I was
floating ten feet off the ground, looking upon a horrific scene.
Two men were lying on the floor. One man laid face down, blood pooling
around him like some gigantic red lake. Another man lay close by, lying
on his side, curled up almost like a baby. Blood surrounded him too,
merging with the other pool. Looking closer at the man I see a handsome
man, Dark hair, brown eyes, a slender nose and moustache adorn a
chiseled handsome face like ornaments. A small but muscular body lies
on the ground not moving or twitching, lifeless. There is a strange
familiarity about the man, as if I have known him or should know him.
Suddenly it dawns on me, how stupid can I be. The man was I!
"Shit" I exclaimed, realizing that I was either dead or close to it. I
could not feel any pain, fear or any other emotion. I had no regrets
only a sense of urgency, a sense that I shouldn't tally here too long,
that I must go to where my destiny would take me.
Sensing a movement behind me I turned and wonder lit my eyes as I
spotted a light. A light so pure and white that it made me cry; cry for
the innocence of the world; cry for all the joy;
The light slowly approached me growing larger. I sensed something more
than mere light, something intangible, something far beyond my normal
understanding. It was almost as if the light had life, sentience,
intelligence. Watching quietly, I waited, expecting to be engulfed by
the life and transported to some enchanted, enlightened land.
Suddenly the light began to change. Red sparkles, small at first, but
getting larger started to flicker around the edges. The quiet presence
I had felt or sensed earlier also seemed to be changing. Gone was the
gentleness, the love to be replaced by a hatred and anger that
threatened to overwhelm me. I looked at my ethereal body and noticed a
change, a frightening change! Slowly my flesh seemed to be peeling,
blood oozing out, pestilence and decay showing through the flesh. Pain
like none I have felt before assailed my senses and sent me reeling,
screaming. No longer in control of my body, I twisted and turned in a
sordid dance that was in rhythm the sparkles.
Suddenly sinister arms appeared in the light, which by now was scarlet
red. Soulful screams were now being emitted; screams that tour my heart
apart. The hands were disgusting, boils covered, with long sharp nails
that were intent on flailing and tearing my flesh. My spirit moved
closer to them, inexorably being dragged towards a sordid land.
Then suddenly, luckily for me I felt something tugging at me, something
attempting to pull me back to reality. The light begins to fade a
little, a tangible disappointment in the air as it realizes that I was
lost to it and would survive for another day.
As I opened my eyes, I looked to my left. I saw the man I had just
killed and cried. I looked straight into the policeman's eyes and
thanked him as he handcuffed me and began reading me my rights. At
least they were not my last rites.
