No Dance

In a crowded room, I look around and sigh,
So filled with gloom, my voice starts to cry,
This maybe a chance, with a stranger to dance,
The music goes on, but I'd rather sing the song.
I don't want to dance; today or tomorrow,
In a waking trance, so filled with sorrow,
Sweet music I bring, as I start to sing,
And the music goes on, I'm singing the song.
I don't even hear, the noise of the crowd,
So far and so near, all singing so loud,
The music goes on, until I finish my song,
And as I leave, I silently grieve.
As if by chance, the crowd stop and stare,
Then start to dance, but I don't even care,
For my hands won't clap, and my feet won't tap,
The music plays at will, yet I'm standing still.
