Only At Weekends
I watch as you inhale,
And hold
Then release, bubbling over your lips,
The sweet smoke of rebellion;
Your parents know nothing,
They hardly dare suspect
That you, their little boy
"Only smokes at weekends"
Then chews extra strong mints
To mask the cloying smell,
One boy,
Totally pissed
Lurches into song
As we half carry him homeward,
And we are told once again
That none of this ever happened;
The lies told at weekends don't matter,
You're not yourself at weekends
