The Parachutist

tandem jump, random rip, rip cord ripped
ripped as they tripped out the plane
tripping they fell
rushing, the plain, they know
the air deafening crescendo
rushing, push her?, blood pressure

falling,
falling and flashing, memories memorized in his mind
behind the left his luck beside his stomach
plummeting and panting
he gasped as she grasped, bound fast
they sped, forward, downward, onward
nausea

their life, survive
at least her, ground faster, he ponders
the spouse he'd thought of
thought of with doubt, yet
with no doubt are his thoughts thought of.

Decision made, silence, solace in sacrifice
knows all, faith to save her
thought the noble instructor

But onward, backward
back down to the ground, the grass sucked
his frown down

And falling they fell
fell, his back snapped, cracked, carcass
natural scene car crash
yet from his violent death arose her silent breath
