Sadness
I never had a tragedy
Just a sadness stirring underneath
An organised face,
Sorrow simmered quietly
Then froze to keep control of
My guilty ache.
It seemed I had no reason
To cry. I wore no badge, nothing gaped,
Nothing bled.
But nothing is just a name
For the unnamed
The unnameable
And misery swells
When blue eyes gaze unseeing
At my grief.
