Shadow of What a Friend Can Be

Remember what ever you feel I have felt.
In some form or other I felt what you feel.
And that moment of embankment through,
Into the dark, it seems so real now to you.
Standing here in the light, where we can't see each other
I am loving you, wanting to give my heart out to cover
Something that doesn't need me, doesn't love me back.
Scared to give my heart out but I can cause I am strong
And I can throw you a rope. And if you don't see it,
Its because you've chosen to ignore me, decided it
Wouldn't help. And the words are feeble
Cause the ladder isn't real; this is all a bitter joke.
But does it matter? I have been standing in the dark
Been sitting in the shadow, working it all out.
The final word out: I can cope.
