The Silent Room

I turned off the TV,
"lets have a cup of tea dear,
before we go up", I said

Then I remembered

You were outside,
Locking the garden shed.
"Don't be to long out there!" I called
"Oh! and Has the Cat been fed?"

Then I remembered

It was Sunday!
So you had gone early to bed.

I tapped on the bathroom door
"Hurry up Love" I pleaded
"Why are you always so slow?"

Then I remembered

I'm sure I heard you finish
Ages ago !

I put down the book I was reading,
And nestled my head in the pillow,
"Be a darling" I asked
"And switch out the light".

Then I remembered

Wasn't it my! turn tonight?.

I looked at our wedding photograph.
The one that sits on the window sill.
And the room was so very silent.
And the bed lay very very still.

Then I rememberd !!
