Snap Dragon
Under the canopy of ivy and bramble,
Beneath the fingers of twining vine,
Between the well-fed hearts of creepers,
Love diluted - Snap dragon smiles.
Through the arms of trundling trailers,
Inside the green voluptuous cave,
Behind the gangling galloping weeds
Of little exception - Snap dragon waves.
Every day she holds her hand out.
Every day she prays for rain.
Hungry, hunted, bruised and battered
Fushia head decries her pain.
Crowning glory spurns the wary,
Biting mouth prepared for scorn.
Spindly body craves affection;
Stem erect but roots all torn.
Under the canopy, ivy squeezes;
Grows abundant - chokes it's son.
Between the well-fed hearts of saplings
Smothering blindly - Snap dragon won.
