Beyond the aged moss-stone wall,
an aged stone-grey gentleman stares
at a tombstone - in which lies buried his only care.
And with a gentle, reverant stance,
he remembers the date - that by chance -
had brought together their vow of eternity -
A golden sanction: by oath; by ring; by heart;
Never to be broken; til death do us part.
How true that vow that fate doth write,
Death with its heavenly grace and might
Forsworn she to the soil, and he to stone.
Yet resolutely he waits, for his own fate...
And, beyond the aged heaven's gate,
the aged stone-white gentleman shares
the tombstone - in which lies buried their eternal care.
