"Once found the joy is gone,"
She whispered to me from the swing
Arching high above the trees with dawn,
Upon which I wrote a song
Of you when the birds took wing
Once. Found the joy (it's gone).
Passed a playground, on
Which the children sing
Arching high above. (The trees with dawn
In their eyes) And still I don't
Know if it was you or I who, loving,
Once found the joy. It's gone
And with it the drawn
Face I had that last day. The thing
Arching high above- the trees with dawn
Hold my thoughts again. Upon
Our souls is the pain we sing-
Once found. The joy is gone,
Arching high above the trees with dawn.
