Visa Electron Blues

Well, I knew the money scenario was going to be a pain, but I didn't
envisage such a chore without results. I don't know what's going on,
but the link with visa doesn't seem to be working at all. I've been to
about five banks, none of the cash machines would give me money &;
the Co-Operative bank have done me the honour of giving me a card that
is for electronic use only. Therefore, I can't obtain money from the
cashiers either. Met another couple of gringos in the same predicament,
so felt better that it wasn't solely my coke scarred bank card. Fair
old strut though. A good four hours walking. Luckily, I've reserved
?20, so can eat, but I could be fucked if I don't get money within the
next day or two.
Jorge has just popped round &; I informed him of my problems. The
kind chap said I could crash round their pad if I've got any problems.
Fairplay, but fear of being killed, stuffed &; placed on an altar is
enough for me to consider any alternative actions. I'm very tired at
the moment, so chilling is the best option. I popped into a supermarket
&; bought some bread, cheese, etc. so at least I'll survive.
Strangely the cheapest loaf of bread cost ?1.50 &; is imported from
Mexico. Therefore, it is the equivalent in value to 5 beers or 2
bottles of rum.
Power cut me up with dub big time. There were about 3 to 4 during the
night. Jorge told me yesterday that the Electronic Engineering
University in Merida is world reknowned &; the most innovative ideas
come from there. I presume these talented students practice their ideas
elsewhere, as the electrical supply here isn't exactly working.
