Worst Case Scenario

The worst thing that could have happened hasn't happened. Yet
we still believe it will. Of course it will but when? Not yet
has the boiler blown, the microwave melted our minds. A shame-
faced stranger has not appeared at our doors, foaming madly. No
long-looked-for doom has danced on our doorsteps. It's a pity
that you, like me, have no choice but to look death in the face
of all this disappointment.
