The Snake

The black snake coils around
Keeping you tied down, bound
By the sound that echoes,
Flows through empty chambers
The lifeless remainder
Of what once beat so strong
Long before things went wrong
But life goes on, leaving
You behind, grieving
Decieving your cold soul
That's still believing the lies
You tell yourself, the alibies
Excuses for transgressions
Your pained expressions that show
Possession by a demon
That won't go, you can feel him
Feeding off your sin, the light
Of life's going dim, no fight
Left in you, nothing but pain
Acid rain burns through your brain
You remain in its chokehold
So cold, like fossilized bones
Moans like those of a lost child
Defiled by a world gone mad
Escape from your lips, echo,
Grow louder, navigate through
The wasteland made of the sand
Of time run out, lost in doubt
You release a final shout
Of despair, unheard by God
As monsters storm, maraud
Your flawed soul they come to take
Under the pressure you break
And around you coils the snake
