It's so hard to hide this madness
watch it flare in furtive eyes,
flicker wildly in the stranger
in the mirror
in disguise.

Love has me trapped in it's mad grip.
Passion is my prison cell.
How long will I be locked inside
this cold, bleak and
lonely hell?

Can't you feel me suffer from your
private smiles and public sneers
putting me down though I've loved you
all these wasted
empty years?

You're not alone in longing to be
released from this old insanity,
look into my eyes and you will see
that I am desperate to be free.

I don't want to love you darling
I don't want to be your friend,
I just want to show you how our
story really
ought to end.

Let me come in for the evening,
let me come in for the night.
I'll be there to hold you after
you have turned off
the last light.

As the darkness builds around us

all your fears will cease forever
once you've tasted
all my charms.
