V.
I have made a book of dreams
a record written
for all the times I see you
in the cloudy fields of slumber
the book is quite long now
You always come to me
and sit in a chair
you cross your legs
a bell rings in the distance
sometimes we talk
sometimes I kiss you
with kisses like lightning
Sometimes we argue
I, angry, half-crazed
you, implacable
you'll see me again you say
when, I demand and
do you expect me to wait fifteen years?
you never answer
and I kiss you again
with kisses like lightning
and we stand in a desert at sunset
vermillion rolls across our skin
then I wake up
I will wait fifteen years
I will wait a desert of time
I will wait an ocean away
