Your words hurt me,
as if i were a tree,
battered and bruised by the unforgiving winds,
I open my mouth, reach out to you,
but in the stagnant air, my voice deserts me,
In its place a bitter look of rejection,
Illuminates from your eyes,
you revel in the reddened glow of my cheeks,
Turning to amber,
I smolder,
Descend to ashes.
