Quilt

Ian and Richa are in school.Ian is the younger and is in the sixth grade.Richa is in the eighth grade.They both study at South Point School.Their parents are both doctors.Papa is a psychiatrist while Mama is a general practioner.Generally,the children spend their day in daycare.But the daycare centre is closed today for repair and renovation work.Hence,the children are at home today.They were tired after a hectic day at school.They however were not eager to take a nap.Instead they decided to explore the hitherto locked up attic.Papa wanted to take out some old books and had thus opened the attic.The children had no idea what was inside that room but were curious about the place.So,they ran up to the roof.Inside the attic,they found many things.There were their parents' school books,there was some old furniture,there were a few porcelain vases.All belonging to a different age and epoch.But what engaged the childrens' attention was this.It was an old quilt made of pink silk.It looked rather fancy and also appeared to have been given a thorough dusting.Richa decided to take the quilt downstairs to their room.So they did.Then,the children began to study on the quilt.Both had Maths tests the next day and were worried.But before they knew it both the kids had dozed off on the quilt.
The children awoke some fifteen minutes later.They were both excited.Both Ian and Richa had had the same dream.They had seen the next day's test questions.They decided not to tell anybody about it.The tests went rather well for Ian and Richa both but by the time they returned home from daycare Mummy had thrown the quilt away. In fact she had been very angry about bringing it down the night before.The quilt had passed on to the family driver Tuk Tuk.Tuk Tuk was a compulsive gambler.It was the middle of the month and he was nearly broke.He had to make some money very quickly and the only way he could do it was gambling some more.He took the quilt to his lodgings and slept on it.He had a dream.A very profitable dream that told him which numbers to pick for his next game of lotto.And he won too.But the quilt was taken away by his girlfriend Papia who thought it to be quite attractive when she visited.She had always wanted to know how to make pao bhaji.She slept on the quilt and the recipe was all hers.Papia had a cat called Reply.
The next day Papia was out on an errand.Reply was taking his daily stroll around the locality.The mayor lived close by.He was walking by with his orderly.The orderly was a hater of cats.Well,the man kicked Reply out of his way.Reply was more insulted than injured.He went back to Papia's house and took his afternoon siesta on that great quilt.We do not know what Reply wanted and how his dream was.But,sirs,Reply the cat was sworn in as the new mayor of the town the next day.
