Diamond City is near Calcutta.It is THE place for rich people to go for picnics and such other leisure activities.There are many houses in the area which are let out to such groups of people.Tintin Palace is one of them.Its a two storey country house with a sprawling garden.The garden has all manner of plants and many of them are flowering species.Calcutta has very mild winters and thus this season is rather suitable for Diamond City outings.People came in droves here in huge land cruiser type cars.They liked to eat things they would dare not be seen eating in Calcutta city.And also drank beverages to their heart's content.A new party of five people had just arrived in Tintin Palace a few hours before. There were five men all from different professions.
There was Ian Sen who worked in a hotel.There was John Roy who was a doctor.There were two brothers who were marine engineers called Barry Pan and Andy Pan and there was the quiet Donny Das who was a businessman.All these people had known each other since early childhood.They were all from good,affluent families.They were all within twenty five years of age.And none of them knew how to cook.They had bought tins of food from Calcutta.All they had to do was warm the food up before eating it.The owners of Tintin Palace had provided the lodgers with a LPG cylinder and an oven. It was Ian's turn to warm the food on the first day.
The tourists had planned to stay for fifteen days.There was much to do-lolling about at the beach,water sports,snorkelling,the whole works.But tragedy struck on the morning of the second day itself.Ian was found dead by the others.The police was called.Everyone was questioned,everything was searched.Nothing could be unearthed.Dr John died the next morning.Again there were no clues.Each person was grilled.Everyone was shocked when Barry and Andy were discovered dead on the third day.A lesser person would have fled to Calcutta.But Donny decided to stay on.With disastrous results.He was dead on the fourth morning.The mystery suddenly became clear when the local LPG plant was raided by health officials.Indeed,all LPG cylinders filled after a certain date were found to be contaminated with traces of hydrogen cyanide.Thus,each time any one or more of the tourists used the LPG cylinder to warm their food they inhaled traces of cyanide.This resulted in their death in sleep.It was a tragic end to five promising lives.
