Writing is Magical

It was morning. The sun shone brightly outside. The day was
perfect.
Peter entered the room and noticed Victoria sitting at a desk. She was
using the typewriter.
Surprised, he asked her, "What on earth are you doing? It's a beautiful
morning. You should be enjoying the lovely weather and the fresh air
instead of being cooped up in this dingy room."
"What I'm doing is very important. I've been working all night, and I'm
not about to stop now."
"What have you been doing all this time?"
"I've been writing a novel. A great British romance novel. I began it
last night, and I'm not going to stop until it's completed."
"You cannot possibly work that long! It's not good for you."
"I don't care. I've just got to write this book. It's in me, and it
must come out. It just has to be written."
"Well, you should at least take a little break. Sleep for a
while."
"No. I refuse to take a nap. If I sleep, my book won't get
finished."
"It will be waiting for you when you awake. I just don't want you
getting overworked."
"Don't worry about me. I'm fine. I'm a true writer, and my writing is
my power. It's what I thrive on," Victoria told him.
"You really do need a rest. All this writing is going to your head. Who
do you think you are anyway? The queen or something!"
"I tell you I am very powerful. My words are my life. I refuse to
listen to you. I have been given a special gift, and that gift is my
writing. No one can take it away from me. It's mine, and it will be
mine forever."
"Victoria, please go to sleep," pleaded Peter.
"I refuse. To sleep is to dream, and I cannot dream. I need to work. I
need to create. Sleep can wait, but my book cannot," she said in a
dreamy voice.
"You think you're so dramatic."
"Please leave me alone. I must keep working."
"Very well. When you've finished, do come out and let me know."
"I will. Thank you for understanding, Peter. Every true writer needs
peace and quiet while working."
"I cannot say I understand what you're going through when you
create."
"Only true writers know the feeling. It's something which cannot be
explained. It is just there. It's a kind of magic."
