The mirror
is a bar
I don't go to anymore
I used to be so friendly with the barman
the staff
intimate with the songs
on the jukebox
the men
on the stools
who waved with smiles
as I left
I don't go there anymore
when I see it
I flinch
I may go in there again,
of course,
when I grow accustomed to the closure
of teenage giggles
of crushes
of skin smooth
the mirror
is a bar
boarded up
after rocks through windows
by drunken men
ruining peace
ruining innocence.
