afflicted with myopia
Here in the township of gullibility,
summer is growing old.
She finds that dancing her nights and paychecks away
is not enough to calm the chaos
that sweeps and dips into her life
like a street party.
Such is the ramshackle reality of
dullness emoting from bluebonnet eyes.
She listens to Peter, Paul and Mary, eats more bagels,
tries to fill the emptiness
and the discordant cawing of now.
She decries the inequalities of the world,
manicured and pedicured, waxed and massaged,
knowing this is where it ends,
enjoying the gado gado but forgetting to chew.
