Grocery Store Blues
I saw two women hug in the grocery store a couple of hours ago
They looked so happy to see one another as if it had been a very long
time.
I was joy on their faces and elated smiles
I did not know the women
But, I was nearly moved to tears.
I saw a very young father holding his new baby
He looked so proud
He beamed with joy
A smile spread across his face
He looked so adoringly at the infant child.
This site touched me dearly
Nearly moving me to tears.
Down another isle I saw a mom and her two young sons
One about 11 the other about 8
I looked up just as I saw the mom shove the younger boy
He went several steps forward then fell on his face
When he stood I saw a look on his face
A look I have seen before
He looked at his mom
I looked at him and saw fear
This too nearly moved me to tears.
Walking around I watched
I saw the people
They never noticed me.
I saw elderly couples holding hands
Young couples holding hands
I saw small children laughing
I saw a world in that store
Just passing me by.
I saw a daddy running down the isle
Running after a little girl
I wondered is she was in trouble
And what would happen when she was caught.
She turned her little face looked back at her daddy
"you can't catch me daddy I run to fast" she giggled
he caught her, scooped her up and tickled her tummy
this as well nearly moved me to tears.
So many people
Go many goals and errands to fulfill
I have never felt so lonely
Never so sad as today
As I completed my shopping
Returning to my car
Driving home I wondered why I ever left at all.
I was glad to leave that place
Hurrying my drive home
I was moved to tears
The saddest kind of tears
They were cried and no one saw.
