A COMPARATIVE SUMMER
Like the memory of a bright summers day
Your sweet loveliness pervades my mind
As the window keeps the rain at bay;
I remember a warm short summer, kind
And gentle, where often we lay in passion
Until the light had dimmed to evening
And in the sky the moons fair light shone
Down onto the act of natures sibling.
But as in nature chance in love can internecine
To leave an unforgettable memory of a time
And when due death does come to intervene,
Theirs a chance that these few lines of mine,
So long as there is life and eyes to view
So hopefully shall this give lasting life to you.
