Vanessa's birthday

We want to be erudite,a nd speak like they do in David Mamet plays.
But no one speaks that way. Vanessa's fat and fat she's going to stay,
but her hair is beautiful, she does it every day. Nobody came on
Vanessa's birthday, she lied her way out of our affection. The pizza's
going cold, she's drinking all the diet coke and spilling it down her
satin dress. On weekends the soldier boys burst out from the barracks
for one night stands and hand shandys in the back of Ford Fiestas.
Vanessa stole a photo from Sergeant Lee Canessa, she said this one's
going to marry me.
Nobody came on Vanessa's birthday, someone who looks like that should
learn her place. Her tales were never true, and you could see right
through the piggy little tears on her piggy little face. She would
steal stuff from work, stuff that wouldn't hurt, stuff she wouldn't
use, stuff that she would put into her bottom draw next to an unread
book and postcards from a man she'd never met.

were never true. And you could see right through,The piggy little eyes
on her piggy little face.
