Take Me Down

“Do you enjoy tearing stripes off lions?
Or destroying souls of men?
Do you get satisfaction making a mess?
You’re a tease, mean, cheat, don’t know what love is”
So you say.
Emotions bent out of shape.
I shall lend you my ear
For old times sake.
But first
Take
Me
Down
Off bloody hooks
Suspended above my head
Look at me.
My feet nailed to floor.
Want to talk crucifixion?
So, I'm not the average,
Slightly off the wall,
Eccentric, liked that first of all,
Furry boots, messy hair, green eyes
Got under your skin,
Maybe I did strip you bare,
Bit late to slam the door,
But remember this,
I asked you
“WHY?”
You replied softly,
With sharpened teeth,
“She wasn’t you”
Couldn’t even muster tears
It was just too cruel,
Pain of the nails you hammered
Unlike no other, ripping through.
Shall I continue?
As you kindly
Take
Me
Down
Off bloody hooks
Suspended above my head
Look at me.
My feet nailed to floor.
Remember this.
Birthday kisses,
Pulled you through my door,
Showering with kisses.
It felt real, it was real,
As autumn day unfolded,
As you fed me, not just food.
In the morn, truth, splintering
Sections of us, imposter lurked,
Causing life time hurt, anguish.
Walls, floors groaned under pressure
Of all inconsolable emotion, as
I became suspended on piercing hooks
That bled into every naked ocean,
Grappling with waves, choking on lies.
Take
Me
Down
Off bloody hooks
Suspended above my head
Look at me.
My feet nailed to floor.
It was just too cruel,
Pain of the nails you hammered
Unlike no other, ripping through.
There it all began, decline, mistrust,
Sense of us shifted, still we clung.
It wasn’t enough. Damage was done.
I have no tears left to cry,
You bled me dry, sharp twisted stem
Of this loss, will last a lifetime,
Fresh skin grows, scars remain,
Delicate fine lines will define
Shape of me in solitary years to come,
With them I shall die in the knowledge,
I loved you, true and honest,
I still do.
Take
Me
Down
I think I'm done.
