Venturing Home

Solemn naked trees,
Silence
Not a song
No murmur snared,
Standing among thin
Forest branches bare
That hang cynically
Moving so stiffly,
With bitter icy gusts,
Staunch, rooted to earth.
Drifting snow flakes sweep,
Tantalising eyelashes, cheeks,
Tongue gently licks tears seeping.
Deep breath, inhale,
Opens her mouth
Screaming
Whipping nightmares through air,
Unleashing Pandora’s box.
Birds alarmed leap to skies,
Rabbit’s in panic scamper by,
Deer startled legs-a-dance,
God in mirth laughs,
Claps, sending thunderbolts
“That’s it Girl! Let it all out,
Caged inside keeping hold,
Poisoning precious one life!
Scream for all you’re worth
Give up this tiresome fight”
Her mouth perfectly wide,
Fierce in battle cry,
She roars much harder,
Until raw,
No sound uttered anymore,
Just beats of her heart,
Racing, pulsating with life.
Her frame small standing safely
Just inside heavens door.
“Now get down there,
Live your life,
You’re far too young
To give up the fight”
Regarding each other
He whispered softy
“Waste not a moment,
Treasure the sun,
I made you strong,
This can’t be undone,
Not by man,
Not by sin,
While you breathe,
You breathe me in.”
Lingering scent of roses
Ice melts in shallow crevices
As new warm sun burns,
Birds flock and venture home
To nest, fuss and groom,
Trees sway in blissful bloom
Dancing no longer denied.
Tears must dry
Eventually
For after all
You wouldn’t disagree with God.
Would you?
