Apple Strudel Surprise

Granny Peach was a peach. Not a literal peach, she wasn’t orange with hints of red, (although she was round and a little furry, especially round the lip). No, Granny Peach was a peach because she was very sweet.
Granny Peach loved baking. So much so she baked at least five times a day. This may seem excessive but living in a retirement home there were plenty of willing participants to try her many recipes.
One day Granny Peach was making her favorite recipe, apple strudel surprise. I know the old joke, ´Do you know why it’s called apple strudel surprise… because there’s no apples in it’. Well this was true. It also wasn’t a strudel. Granny peach didn’t even know what a strudel was.
Any way, this day Granny Peach was making her apple strudel surprise and was surprised to find she had run out of cherries, the main ingredient in apple strudel surprise, of course this would be unsurprising to any one who baked apple strudel surprise.
Ingredients for Apple Strudel Surprise
Baking powder
Sugar
Flour
Apples (Cherries)
Butter (and lots of it)
Before her, Granny Peach had a choice. Would she use cherry blossom or apples in place of the cherries. After adding the rest of the ingredients into the bowl, Granny Peach closed her eyes and reached out, not knowing what bowl she was picking. She picked up a bowl and tipped it into the mixture. Still with her eyes closed she stirred.
With a puff and a flash Granny Peach was thrown back in the room, her fall broken by the pile of failed knitting. Granny Peach was shocked. Not just because of the explosion, not just because explosions usually only happened after she had the oven on. No Granny Peach was surprised because before her, standing in the bowl she had been mixing was… well… what was it? Granny Peach certainly didn’t know. (To be fair, as I write this even I don’t know, I certainly don’t know what to call it.) It looked like a small monkey but was covered in pink flowers and its mouth was big and filled with sharp pointy teeth. (I am going to call it a… hmmm… a flower monkey, no, a monkey bouquet, no, an ape arrangement, no, hmmm you know what, let’s just call it an Apple Strudel Surprise).
The Apple Strudel Surprise stared at Granny Peach, the dark circular eyes barely visible beneath the blossom. Granny Peach fought to find her footing from the failed knitting beneath her. The whole time the Apple Strudel Surprise stared. After managing to find her feet (they were at the end of her legs like they usually were). Granny Peach stood and in a flash ran toward the Apple Strudel Surprise who continued to stare. (When I say she ran she obviously didn’t run, she was a granny, but she did move as fast as she could).
Flying across the room (ok maybe I am exaggerating too much) , she launched forward (sorry I can’t stop), grabbing the Apple Strudel surprise, finding the petals very delicate, she thrust it into the oven turning it on.
Now she could only wait. 25 minutes and DING.
Granny Peach served the Apple Strudel Surprise to the other residence. Waiting with bated breath.
´Mmmmm’. She heard, Granny Peach smiled.
