A poem breaks out of
"froth corrupted lungs".
People past,
Past people
Governed by God like Kings,
Alexander and Roman Gods.
Today, an outpouring of democracy
Suffocates those Kings
As I think and they think.
Our thoughts construct our Tiananmen Square
So great that leaders shrivel.

Notes.
Written while reading the New Statesmen in the Koha Bar in St Martin's
Court, nr. Leicester Square tube station.
The prospective war with Iraq triggers the thoughts and words in/of the
poem. Not sure what it all means as the words came to me without
preplanning. I think I am hoping that the general world population,
excited by the huge media coverage of the war, can become so
influential that it can act as a break on the war-mongers. Perhaps not
this time. I can see how people can express themselves more powerfully.
In the past, people could not choose to resist war, as the God Kings,
and this includes Bush and Blair, had overwhelming power, but today,
what politicians like to call democracy, the voice of the people, might
be on the edge of real power, when face an unappealing policy. Soon,
people, with more information than before, can assess the situation for
themselves and resist the power of politicians. Will Turkey yield to
the influence of the US when it is reported that over 90\\% of the
population are opposed to war with Iraq?
Tiananmen Square brings the image of the individual who stood in front
of a tank and the driver/officer stopped. The suggestion is that people
can become so influential with it's access to information that it can
confront tanks around the World.
