With plenty of places for tea
People come from far and near
To have fun on the pier
.
The Royal Pavilion in all its splendour
Couples come and marry and remember
.
There's pubs and shops
And places to bop
Walks along the promenade
.
The sun is shining on the boats afar
A teenager playing a guitar
.
Not many people holding hands
A lonely man shuffles along the road
No hanky to blow his nose
.
The trains have just pulled in
A newspaper and kiosk near by
Grab a sandwich take a bite
Get in your car or ride a bike
.
Children buying ice-creams and toffee apples to buy
And rides and bungee jumps from so high.

Thought I'd read one of yours, Julie. BRIGHTON BY THE SEA caught my eye as I used to live not too far away (Haywards Heath) and my daughter now lives in Hove. I now live in Dorset. I thought you captured the atmosphere of the town very well with some endearing imagery. Really liked it, well done. I shall read more.
Kind regards.

Hello Julie, so glad you

Hello Julie, so glad you responded. Yes I am new to ABCtales and I got to know about it through a copy of the Big Issue. It's strange really, because I'd always rejected BI on the grounds that it didn't publish fiction. Then one day I found this copy on a table in a pub and bingo! Tony Cook seemes like a really nice guy and very encouraging to new writers (all, actually) and I think he's doing a great job. It's so nice for writers of any ilk to have a forum because there are few mainstream opportunities for them to get published unless they can come up with formulaic prose like they publish in magazines these days.
I'd like to correspond with you more if you are willing and discuss ideas and thoughts etc. I found your email a bit of a jumble but charming. I guess you're one of these people you can write as they think. I have to work it all out before I put pen to paper. My wife's sister is not academic, but she writes great letters, forget grammar, but her letters are very entertaining.
You mentioned Boscombe, Bournmouth? Why? It's just that Debbie and I had one of our first holidays in Boscombe. We stayed at a guest house and all we can remember is the awful nylon sheets. Lots of sparks in the dark.
Please write again.
