I was driving onto the government base in Washington D.C., heading for their technology department. When I finally got on the grounds, I felt like a whole new person. My proposal took ten months to a year to write, and I was sure ready to have it accepted.
When I go to the double doors leading to the robotics office, my body was overcome with excitement about how much my life was going to change. I was going to be famous, and I knew it. I walked over to the receptionist's desk, where the lady looked over-worked and still had a big stack o papers on the desk next to her.
"Hello, I have a meeting with Dr. Coleman about my proposal," I said. "Am I in the right place?"
The receptionist didn't respond. I was getting really annoyed at this point.
"Excuse me, I came up here all the way from Florida for my proposal," I told her, trying to hold my temper. "I need to be directed to the right room."
She looked up from her desk. "Name?" she asked.
"Lizzy!" a voice echoed from the other side of the room. "We have been expecting you."
I spun around on my heels, expecting to see some old man addressing me. The sight was of a very tall, slim, attractive man, who seemed to be in his late twenties to early thirties with shaggy blond hear and dark green eyes. I wasn't sure why, but the sight of this man sent a chill down my spine.
"We have a lot to get done," he replied, practically staring me down. "Come this way."
I followed him reluctantly. When we stopped he opened the door and gestured at me to walk in. The sight was unbelievable. All of the work I had done throughout my college career was being displayed in this room.
"Wow," I started.
"I hope you don't mind, but we took the liberty of bringing these from the school ourselves," he said.
"It's amazing."
"You're amazing..." he replied. "I mean, your work is amazing."
I walked around the room and admired all of my work that I had done over the years. It was really cool to see all of my past projects being recognized. All of a sudden, I heard a noise and the mysterious man and one of my robots was gone.
I then got hit in the head. My mind kept on going blank. I felt like I was falling into darkness. It got darker and darker. I tried to reach out, but no one was there. Finally, everything turned black.
