Politician's promises,
a preacher's scones and threats,
moves no one, the old or young.
Victims dead or alive, and books that beg us,
words which are never heard
every kind of singer in every kind of voice
pleading, pleading for it all,
but waiting, and waiting.
Centuries line, and eat us up,
write us off and just forget us.
