Of man's all temporary desires,
Love and gold and fame are mine.
Love as all have, I've had,
A simple slow love
So subtle, its presence hardly known
And with apathy confused.
The desire now is of those
That were lacking and pleasant;
Of strong fondness
With subtle emotions
And that into gold set
For the comfort of its softness
And its bright sheen
That would set our life aglitter
And an iota of which
We'd lent to the world
And its magnificence, envied by the sun
Will be but ours.
This is my desire,
Born of a temporal dream.
