Please don’t accept that

Knighthood Mr Bates;

Just think first of the

Company you’ll keep.

All the arse lickers,

And the City slickers,

Plus, the Politico creeps.

All those Sirs, who

Are really just curs.

So, keep your integrity,

And tell them were

To stick their bribe,

Where the sun don’t shine,

Or maybe words more kind.

All those OBE's, MBE's, CBE's for the politicians, bankers, industrialists etc. Establishment could be the E bit instead of Empire for them. There should be a new kind of award that means something, that shows a person has earned huge respect by doing something exceptional to make things better against the odds. Who often are the Establishment

Thanks Di. I did write out the 'poem' fast, while feeling the anger from watching the program, which even allowing for some dramatic license did a fair job at showing how power operates. And the thing is he'd already refused an honour due to the company he'd then be in.
