Once Upon a Time

'Twas in an age not long ago
That this tale first began,
When Princess Daisy ran away
To find a distant land.
Her hair was mousy, short and spiked,
Her skin with acne plagued.
She liked to take old cars apart,
To see how they were made.
She didn't want to find a Prince;
She thought them nasty beasts.
Her dream instead, to find a place
To fix her cars in peace.
The final straw had come one day
When Daisy had attempted
To fit an aging 2CV
With turbo, six valve engine.
The Queen had come to ask her to
The castle for her tea,
And found her youngest daughter
Wearing dirty dungarees.
The Queen, she screamed and shouted,
And Daisy griped and groaned.
'Twas after this kerfuffle,
Princess Daisy left her home.
She packed her things in Dobbin,
Her faithful green MG.
And set off on a quest to find
Her garage by the sea.
The villagers all scattered
As she raced on through the town.
They knew that Princess Daisy had
The fastest wheels around.
For days and nights she travelled
Only stopping to refill
Her faithful steed with petrol,
Whenever he stood still.
But soon there same some trouble.
A monster barred her way.
His eyes were big and glowed bright pink,
His skin was scaled and grey.
He roared at Princess Daisy,
Expecting her to scream,
Lashed out his fearful talons
And scratched her green MG.
At this the Princess lost her rag.
She ran to him enraged.
'This car cost me a fortune,
And for that scratch, you'll pay!"
The monster looked dejected.
And gave a little sigh.
He sat down by the roadside,
And then began to cry.
'I don't like being so horrid
It's just part of the job.'
He looked at Princess Daisy
And gave another sob.
'OK,' she said, embarrassed
'Then being friends sounds best.
Just climb into my motor
And join me on my quest.'
The monster smiled so sweetly.
He scrambled in the car.
The Princess put her foot down.
The car shot forward, fast.
They flew past hills and valleys,
Went speeding round the bends.
The road got rather rocky,
And in need of a mend.
The monster felt quite nauseous,
But Daisy drove for hours.
Then suddenly the brakes slammed on.
She parked under a tower.
'This is it' she stuttered.
I've found the perfect place.
She pictured her new garage,
Her heart began to race.
The monster looked excited
'You mean our quest is done?
That all seemed rather easy
In fact it's been quite fun.'
Then high up at a window,
A princes' voice rang clear
'Can someone help me to escape
A wizard trapped me here.'
'I'll help you' shouted Daisy
'If I can keep the tower.'
'It's yours if you can save me.
My father's got the power.'
So Daisy foraged in her car
And found a length of cable.
She threw it to the handsome prince
Who tied it to a table.
He clambered down it quickly.
'My dear you've saved my life,'
'And you must be rewarded'
'So I'll make you my wife!'
'What about my tower?'
Asked Daisy, now upset.
The Prince replied, 'But darling,
'Being my wife's a better bet.'
The Princess raised her eyebrows,
And spat into his face.
'Marriage not my garage!
'I don't think that's the case'
She whispered in the monster's ear.
He gave a mighty snort&;#8230;
The prince's head's now on a spike
In 'Princess Cars'forecourt.
